What We Do

We have three main charity objectives as defined by the Charity Commission. These are to relieve poverty and sickness, to advance the Christian religion and to advance education.:-

  • We provide financial support towards medical treatment, both the direct cost and associated costs such as transport to and from hospital. There is no N.H.S. in Romania, and health provision is either via work-related health-insurance, or by paying privately.
  • We provide emergency financial assistance at times of crisis; for example, for housing repairs or funeral costs.
  • We run a Roma children’s group that supports their learning and includes Christian teaching (and fun!)
  • We provide fortnightly food parcels for widows and widowers in the Roma Community and in Jibou. A typical parcel might include soap powder, rice, oil and spaghetti.
  • We send Christmas shoeboxes so that children who would not otherwise get a present have something at Christmas.
  • We provide financial support to assist young people in Higher Education.
  • We occasionally send non food items from the UK, such as clothing, toiletries and toys.
