Food

In an area of very low incomes, good food is a luxury that many cannot afford. HoH runs a Cantina (food kitchen) to meet this need, and provides appoximately 30 hot meals to children and families three times a week.

The families who are supported in this way have little or no cooking facilities of their own, so the Cantina offers them a vital lifeline, particularly during the winter months when temperatures fall to -25°C.

Many of these families also receive a weekly food packet which contains fresh fruit and vegetables, and dry items such as rice sugar and flour. In addition, basic toiletries are also provided, including sanitary products and nappies.
